It’s official!

It’s an exciting time for Vermont homecare providers! With our election petition filed, we are well on the way to a better quality of life and better opportunities to care for our clients. You can see the optimism on the faces of the many providers who traveled to Montpelier on Wednesday to help with the filing. The providers who make up AFSCME’s Vermont Homecare United know the value of having dignity at work and community support for the valuable service that we provide, and we’re so proud of the work we’ve accomplished together.

On Wednesday, AFSCME’s Vermont Homecare United was featured on several nightly news broadcasts.  Click here to see the report from WPTZ and here to see coverage on WCAX.  We also made the front page of the St. Albans Messenger.

But Vermont homecare providers aren’t just making news, we’re making history.  This will be the largest union election ever held in the state of Vermont, and it’s all thanks to the tireless efforts of our grassroots organizers.  In the words of Amanda Sheppard, a provider from Middlebury, “By filing with nearly 4,500 cards, Vermont’s homecare providers are proudly standing together ready to vote for AFSCME’s Vermont Homecare United as the union best suited to represent us as we fight for the resources we need to provide the best quality care for those we serve.”
